What is the MMBS?
The Maryland Music Business Society is a student run organization at the University of Maryland, College Park.
We strive to:
• Develop a community of future music industry professionals, musicians, and fans
• Be a resource for all students interested in learning about careers and opportunities in the Music Industry
• Educate students about the music industry via lectures, discussion panels, and seminars
• Provide a link between the academic world of the University and the cast resources the greater Washington D.C. area provides in the music industry.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the MMBS is to provide students with knowledge about local and national music businesses and the significance and full range of their work, as well as insight into the various career paths within the industry. We will help prepare undergraduate students for careers in these or related professions in the music industry.
Our Structure
The structure of the MMBS consists of the executive board, task force committees, auxiliary committees, and general membership.
Who can join?
Membership is open to all undergraduate students of any major. We are not exclusive of any race, ethnicity, gender, orientation or religion.
Why should I join?
As an active member, you will be exposed to a fun, interactive organization in which you will be able to build your professional and peer networks, interact with students with similar career ambitions, and gain valuable insight into the fascinating world of the music industry. (It’s also really fun)
How do I join?
Sign up here to join MMBS. Students can get further involved by joining one of our task force committees, auxiliary committees, or by coming up with a unique idea for an auxiliary committee and presenting it to our board. Also, like our Facebook group to receive updates on when we are meeting.
